Stripes Series – the power of the reduced line

The "Stripes" series is the most rigorous reduction in my work: line, surface, rhythm—nothing more is needed when every element sits perfectly. Prof. Markus Lüpertz, in whose class I am studying at the Academy of Fine Arts Kolbermoor, called these works the "logical consequence" of my Bubble Stripes: a further stage of abstraction that gives the work a clear, minimalist expression.

Minimalism with profound impact

Stripes are among the oldest forms of order in painting—and yet their potential remains inexhaustible. In my compositions, finely balanced color relationships, widths, and spaces create a subtle vibration: the surface begins to vibrate as soon as the eye rests. Series such as Colourfield and Farbfeld explore how much emotion is contained within seemingly strict order. A direct comparison reveals how the series evolved from the more organic Bubble Stripes .

What the judgment of a teacher like Lüpertz means for my work and how the lessons in his class are conducted, I explain in the magazine: My path as a master student with Markus Lüpertz .

Experience the works

The works in the Stripes series are signed, unique acrylic pieces. Their serene presence is best appreciated in person – either in an exhibition or by appointment at the studio. See all series at a glance: my artworks .
