ARTIST STATEMENT
Brigitte Puschmann: The art of transformation and multi-layered reality
I explore the image as a changing system rather than a fixed object. Through painting, object and installation, I investigate how colour, structure, rhythm and space influence perception.
My works often begin with modular elements that I repeat, shift and recombine. Lines become surfaces, fragments form new constellations, and colours change their presence in relation to one another. What appears ordered and stable can therefore begin to shift through movement, light, perspective or spatial context.
I am interested in this moment of uncertainty — when an image no longer has only one fixed state, but becomes something that is continuously perceived and re-formed.
My background in interior design has shaped my sensitivity to scale, proportion and spatial relationships. Space is therefore not simply the setting for my work, but an active part of how it is experienced.

My art is an exploration of the hidden structures that emerge within the complexity and constant transformation of life. Rather than illustrating fixed narratives, my works seek to create moments of presence — moments in which color, line, and form unfold physically and atmospherically within space. Through geometric forms, straight lines, and harmonious color relationships, I make visible the delicate balance between order and chaos, stability and movement. The works function as visual fields of perception, inviting the viewer into an immediate experience that can be felt more directly than explained. Questions of interconnectedness, transformation, spatial tension, and timelessness form the conceptual foundation of my practice. In this way, each composition becomes both a reflection of inner and outer worlds and a quiet meditation on presence itself.
